Day 23: "Be Going To" Future Tense

1. Introduction

What is "Going to Future"?

We use be going to to talk about: Future Plans / Intentions (already decided), or Predictions based on present physical evidence.
Hindi idea: मैं करने वाला हूँ / करने जा रहा हूँ • वह जाने वाली है • हम मिलने वाले हैं

I am going to study.

👉 मैं पढ़ने वाला हूँ / जा रहा हूँ।

She is going to cook.

👉 वह खाना बनाने वाली है।

They are going to play.

👉 वे cricket खेलने वाले हैं।

We are going to travel.

👉 हम travel करने वाले हैं।

2. Positive Formula

Subject + am/is/are + going to + V1

I am going to study.

👉 मैं पढ़ने वाला हूँ।

She is going to cook.

👉 वह खाना बनाने वाली है।

He is going to work.

👉 वह काम करने वाला है।

3 & 4. AM / IS / ARE Table

Choose Correct Be Verb

AM: I (I am going to study.)

IS: He / She / It (She is going to cook / It is going to rain.)

ARE: You / We / They (We are going to travel.)

5. Important Rule 🔥

After "going to", use V1

✅ Correct (going to + V1):

• I am going to go. | She is going to eat.

• They are going to play.

❌ Wrong:

• ❌ I am going to went. | ❌ She is going to ate.

• ❌ They are going to played.

When Do We Use "Going To"?

Master the 3 core real-world reasons native speakers choose "be going to".

Use 1: Pre-decided Plan

When a plan already exists:

I am going to study tonight.

👉 मैं आज रात पढ़ने वाला हूँ।

We are going to visit Hyderabad next week.

👉 हम अगले हफ्ते Hyderabad जाने वाले हैं।

Use 2: Intention / Goal

When you have a strong intention:

I am going to learn English.

👉 मैं English सीखने वाला हूँ।

I am going to start exercising.

👉 मैं exercise शुरू करने वाला हूँ।

Use 3: Evidence Prediction

Present physical evidence visible now:

Look at dark clouds! It is going to rain.

👉 बादल देखकर: बारिश होने वाली है।

Glass is at table edge: It is going to fall.

👉 Glass गिरने वाला है।

"Going to + Verb" ≠ Physical Movement

Normal Movement (Go to + Place)

I am going to the market.

👉 मैं market जा रहा हूँ। (Physical movement toward a place)

Future Structure (Going to + V1)

I am going to buy a phone.

👉 मैं phone खरीदने वाला हूँ। (Intended future action, not movement)
